A controller's menu
![]()
The menu in the controller's window gives you access to all of its functions. You can access the menu by using a mouse, but alo by using mnemonics. Each menu has one letter underlined. Press Alt + this letter to open the menu. Then you can choose an item by pressing the underlined letter of that item. Once opened, you can also navigate the menu system by using the arrow keys, and you can choose an item to execute by hitting the space bar. Furthermore the menu's list shortcuts for almost all actions. Use those keys to perform them without ever opening a menu. All menu's, submenu's and menu items will be described below.
The 'Wave' menu
This menu allows you to make settings to modify the wave this generator produces.
New: Use this to change the wave type this generator produces. Just pick one from the list. A description of all waves can be found on page 12 of the manual.
frequency: Use this to focus the 'frequency' input field in the Wave control area, so that you can enter a value there.
amplitude: Use this to focus the 'amplitude' input field in the Wave control area, so that you can enter a value there.
start of interval: Use this to focus the 'start of interval' input field in the Wave control area, so that you can enter a value there.
end of interval: Use this to focus the 'end of interval' input field in the Wave control area, so that you can enter a value there.
start point: Use this to focus the 'start point' input field in the Wave control area, so that you can enter a value there.
Close: Use this to close this controller.
The 'Modulation' menu
This menu allows you to make settings that change the way this generator uses incoming signals for modulation. A detailed description of modulation can be found on page 3 of the tutorial.
Inverted mode: Check this item to set this generator to inverted mode. Inverted mode is discussed thoroughly on page 4, page 5 and page 6 of the tutorial.
frequency asynchronicity: Use this to focus the 'frequency asynchronicity' input field in the Modulation control area, so that you can enter a value there.
amplitude asynchronicity: Use this to focus the 'amplitude asynchronicity' input field in the Modulation control area, so that you can enter a value there.
The 'Viewer' menu
This menu gives you control over this controller's viewer. A detailed description of viewers can be found on page 10 of the manual.
Follow overall time interval: Uncheck this item if you no longer wish this viewer's time interval to be modified when the overall setting is changed. Setting the overall time interval for viewers is described on page 9 of the manual.
Redraw: Use this to make MathSounds redraw all graphs in all open viewers.
time interval: Use this to focus the 'time interval' input field in the Viewer control area, so that you can enter a value there.
The 'Options' menu
This menu allows you to specify which overall settings should modify this generator's settings. Making overall settings is discussed on page 9 of the manual.
Follow overall wave: Uncheck this item if you no longer wish this generator's wave to be modified when the overall setting is changed.
Follow overall frequency: Uncheck this item if you no longer wish this generator's frequency to be modified when the overall setting is changed.
Follow overall amplitude: Uncheck this item if you no longer wish this generator's amplitude to be modified when the overall setting is changed.
Follow overall frequency asynchronicity: Uncheck this item if you no longer wish this generator's frequency asynchronicity to be modified when the overall setting is changed.
Follow overall amplitude asynchronicity: Uncheck this item if you no longer wish this generator's amplitude asynchronicity to be modified when the overall setting is changed.
Follow overall inverted mode: Uncheck this item if you no longer wish this generator to adapt to the overall setting for inverted mode. When you change the inverted mode of this generator this option will automatically be unchecked.
Follow overall settings: Use this item to make this generator follow all overall settings specified in this menu.
Ignore overall settings: Use this item to make this generator ignore all overall settings specified in this menu.
On the next page we will continue with a description of all wave types.
